This General Purpose Nest Box 1B attracts birds to your garden, orchard or woodlands. It’s ruggedly constructed from our remarkable SCHWEGLER wood-concrete, an incredibly tough, long-lasting compound of 100% natural materials that has been specially formulated to ensure your nest box won’t warp, rot, leak or need any kind of maintenance for decades. Since it is so durable, the 1B offers superb value. Warm and waterproof for winter roosting yet cool and comfortable for young chicks, the 1B Official Nest Box boasts a remarkable track record for bringing birds into your garden – attracting as many as twice the number of occupiers as ordinary wooden boxes.
The internal diameter of this nest box is 12 cm. It is usually attached to a tree using the SCHWEGLER Aluminum Nail (see Fig. 1). It can also be hung from a branch (see Fig. 2).
The front panels and can easily be removed from the nest box. Different entrance hole sizes are available to prevent birds from competing with one another for the boxes.
All nest boxes are supplied with a hanger and the special SCHWEGLER Aluminium Nail.
Because the SCHWEGLER aluminum nails are smooth they can be easily removed from the tree trunk using pliers, even after many years. Unlike with grooved nails, only a small scar is left on the trunk.
Material: SCHWEGLER wood-concrete.
Color: Colors vary according to the shipment. We currently have brown and tan, or olive green and tan. If specific color is desired, make note in the comments box at CHECKOUT.

• Oval 29 x 55 mm
Occupants:
Entrance hole 32 mm: Great-, Blue-, Marsh-, Coal- and Crested Tit, Redstart, Nuthatch, Collared and Pied Flycatcher, Wryneck, Tree and House Sparrows, bats.
Entrance hole 26 mm: Blue-, Marsh-, Coal- and Crested Tit, possibly Wren. All other species are prevented from using the nest box due to this smaller entrance hole.
Entrance hole oval: Redstart; also used by species that nest in the diameter 32 mm boxes. However, because more light enters the brood chamber, it is preferred by Redstarts.
